Fall Arts in Jackson Hole: An Anvil Hotel Guide

Every September, Jackson Hole becomes one big gallery.

From Town Square to the Center for the Arts, museums, sidewalks, lawns and gallery walls fill with artists, collectors and curious onlookers for the 42nd Annual Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival, September 9–20, 2026. More than 50 events unfold over 12 days, bringing together contemporary art, Western traditions, wildlife art, live painting, gallery walks, auctions and some of the artists shaping Jackson's creative community today.

For guests of Anvil Hotel, much of it is just a walk from your room, including a few experiences especially close to home through our own Uncommon Art Residency.

UNCOMMON ART RESIDENCY AT THE CENTER FOR THE ARTS

This year, Anvil Hotel's Uncommon Art Residency Show is on display at the Center for the Arts with a group exhibition, bringing together work created by and connected to artists who have participated in the residency program here in Jackson, WY and Greenport, NY. The exhibition is open every day in the Center Commons & Theater Gallery. It will also be open during the Palates & Palettes walk on Friday, September 11, from 5–8 PM, making the Center a perfect stop during one of Fall Arts Festival's biggest nights.

WALK WITH US: UNCOMMON ART CURATOR TOURS
Sunday, September 13 – Friday, September 18 | 10:30 AM

Anvil guests are invited to start their morning with art. Meet at Anvil Hotel at 10:30 AM and walk over to the Center for the Arts with artist and Uncommon Art Residency Curator Kara Hoblin for an intimate tour of the exhibition. Along the way, Kara will share the story behind Uncommon Art, its artists, the residency experience in Jackson Hole, the ideas that have developed through the program and a deeper look at the works currently on view at the Center. Think of it as a behind-the-scenes introduction to the residency from the person who helped shape it. Tours depart from Anvil Hotel each morning Sunday, September 13 through Friday, September 18. Please register with the front desk.

Thirty nationally, regionally and locally recognized artists are given just 90 minutes to create a work while spectators watch the entire process unfold. Finished pieces head directly to auction afterward. This year has an extra connection to the Anvil family: Uncommon Art Residency's Jackson Hole partner and local artist Travis Walker will be participating in the QuickDraw, represented by Maya Frodeman. Catch Travis working live alongside this year's participating artists before his finished piece heads to auction. The afternoon continues with the Jackson Hole Art Auction from 1–5 PM, followed by a QuickDraw Celebration from 6–9 PM.

Sunday, September 20 | Sunday Art Brunch Gallery Walk | 11 AM–3 PM
Close out Fall Arts Festival the Jackson way: one more stroll through the galleries, this time with brunch bites, Bloody Marys and mimosas along the way.

STAY CLOSE TO THE ART

One of the best parts of experiencing Fall Arts Festival from Anvil Hotel is how much of Jackson's creative world is right outside the door. Walk to Town Square. Wander into a gallery you've never visited. Watch an artist make a painting from start to finish. Spend a morning with us learning the stories behind the Uncommon Art Residency. Then head back out and see where the day takes you.

For twelve days in September, Jackson isn't simply a place to see art — it's a place to experience it. Our Uncommon Art Residency is also now open for applications in Greenport, NY and Jackson, WY for the 2027 season!
